Our Historic Location

The Law Offices of Bennett, Parkerson, & Bray are located on the historic Murfreesboro public square, at 108 North Church Street. Our offices are just across the street from the east side of the Rutherford County Courthouse, and steps away from the Rutherford County Judicial Building where the Rutherford County General Sessions and Probate Courts, and the Chancery and Circuit Courts of the 16th Judicial District are located today.

Our building is a Murfreesboro historic landmark dating back to the late 1800's. It has served our community as a mercantile, a drug store, a dance studio and law offices. It’s perhaps best known as the site of two of Murfreesboro's most prominent drugstore businesses: Buchanan and Tarpley’s (Buck and Tap’s), and Moudy's. Beginning in the early 1920s, folks gathered at Buck and Tap’s for fun, soda fountain refreshments, or to buy medicine. Later, Moudy’s drugstore was a favorite lunch spot for the local legal establishment where lawyers, clients, clerks, and judges came from the courthouse across the street to gather at the lunch counter for one of Mrs. Moudy’s chicken salad sandwiches. After the Moudy’s closed its doors, the building was for a time uses as a dance studio, and finally renovated and remodeled as law offices in 1997. Today the historic building is owned by two Murfreesboro attorneys, Stan and Dinah Michael Bennett.

Over the years, those at 108 North Church Street have observed many of the scenes depicted above. A gallery featuring several of these photos decorates the walls of the office building today. Please feel free to visit us and see them any time you are on the square.
