Your Rights As An Accused
ANYONE can accuse. ANYONE can be accused. The United States and Tennessee Constitutions provide all citizens with a number of important rights when accused and facing a criminal prosecution. In fact, many of those rights apply before you have even been formally charged with a criminal offense. Some of the more important rights you have include:
- The right against unreasonable searches and seizures
- The right to remain silent
- The right to counsel
- The right to bond
Some of the other important rights in the process include:
- The right to plead not guilty and persist in that plea
- The right against self-incrimination
- The right to be represented by counsel at all stages of proscecution
- The right to use the power of the courts to compel witnesses at trial
- The right to examine evidence and cross examine witnesses against you
- The right to appeal
These rights can only help you if you assert them at the appropriate time. The best way to be certain that you understand your rights and assert them effectively for is to exercise your right to counsel. An experienced Tennessee criminal defense attorney can be the buffer between you and law enforcement and/or the prosecuting attorney. If you are accused, or if you have simply been contacted by the police regarding a criminal matter, it is imperative that you retain counsel immediately to ensure that your rights are protected.

I am confused about the only review on this page. It is so not the truth. I have had Mr. Bennett as my lawyer a couple of times and know him very well. Most attorneys know that they make alot of money of you and that is all that they care about. However, Mr. Bennett really does care about you as a person. He always asks about what is going on in my life, and cares about my well being. In the courtroom he tries his absolute best to get you in the least amount of trouble as possible, and almost always succeeds! I got out of a lot of trouble that i so deserved to be in, and without him I couldn't have. I already have recommended him to other people and will continue to do so forever. Great Lawyer and you will not be disappointed. Hiring him was worth literally every penny!
